New for 2015!!!! By popular demand, I am adding a Southern Oregon Coast tour. More details to come…

Roosevelt Elk, photographed by Vickie Lewis, in Ecola State Park.

We will watch out for wildlife including elk, whales, seals, sea lions, birds and spend time photographing beaches and tidal pools filled with creatures including starfish, sand dollars and anemones while waiting (and hoping) for beautiful sunsets.

Our focus is to immerse ourselves in the culture and gifts offered by the Oregon Coast, to have fun and to take great pictures.  As your host for this experience, I’m excited to share my knowledge, adventures and insights from spending my childhood vacations on the Oregon coast salmon fishing, building sandcastles, eating freshly caught crab cooked on the beach and roasting hot dogs over bonfires. Register now.

If you love the smell of saltwater, the feel of the ocean in the air and the sound of waves hitting the shore, this trip is for you.

A photo workshop for all levels of photographers

This photo tour is geared for any photographer with a working knowledge of their camera. While the emphasis is on getting out and enjoying the scenery, I am happy to provide tips to take better pictures and I will work with you at your level, whether you are a beginning photographer who wants to explore composition, a fine art photographer looking to build your portfolio or an advanced photographer searching for creative inspiration. If you have a spouse or partner who doesn’t take pictures but would like to come, email me for special arrangements. They will be welcome at our gatherings for a small extra charge.

Having fun while learning from a professional photographer

I create an atmosphere of learning and sharing in these workshops and I find that participants get inspiration from each other. It’s a gift to organize these gatherings and I truly look forward to creating a memory of a lifetime with you.

Itinerary

Generally, participants can expect to be at a shooting location in the morning about an hour before sunrise and we’ll stay at that location through the first few hours of the day, then we will go to breakfast. We will provide snacks and water for the early mornings. Because of the long days, we’ll take some time off in the afternoon to process pictures, share insights, grab a nap or explore as you wish.

The schedule will be designed around the tides, the weather and to take advantage of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We’ll have the opportunity to be on beaches with sand dollars, clams and agates. And in between shoots, I will introduce you to the best places to eat clam chowder, Dungeoness crab, oysters and fresh salmon. If you have never experience a Dungeoness crab, put it high on your list. The food in itself is worth the trip!
